A youth pastor from Waxahachie who impregnated a teenage girl will spend the next five decades behind bars after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting multiple children, officials say.

The investigation began in August 2023 when Waxahachie police were alerted that a 14-year-old girl was in labor and Scales was “overly involved” in her delivery, according to the district attorney. A DNA sample obtained from the baby confirmed Scales was the father of the child, authorities said.

A former Waxahachie youth pastor received a 50-year sentence this week for the sexual assault of children after a 14-year-old girl gave birth to his child, prompting an investigation into his conduct and interactions with other minors,

The 53-year-old pleaded guilty to sexaully abusing 4 minors. The young victims from the church told police he would regularly have sex with them on overnights trips and overnight stays at his house.

A former youth pastor has been sentenced to 50 years in prison without the possibility of parole after admitting to sexually assaulting four minors, the Ellis County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.
