Eight years ago, 24,292 New Orleanians voted for Trump, while 133,996 cast ballots for Democrat Hilary Clinton. Trump nabbed 15% of the total vote that year. In 2020, Trump again scored 15%, obtaining 26,664 votes to current President Joe Biden's 147,854.

ABC News is projecting that Donald Trump will win Louisiana's eight electoral votes. Louisianans headed to the polls on Nov. 5 to vote in the presidential race as well as several down-ballot contests. Polls closed in the state at 8 p.m. local time.
