Representatives of the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service, the Southwest Regional Officer of USDA and Hunger Free Oklahoma all visited Monroe Demonstration Academy to celebrate Tulsa Public Schools' expanded districtwide access to free breakfast and lunch.

Tulsa Public Schools officials walked out of the Oklahoma State Department of Education to rounds of applause on Thursday, as a yearlong effort to prevent a district takeover appeared to have reached a conclusion.

State Superintendent Ryan Walters announced during Thursday's State Board of Education meeting that Tulsa Public Schools accreditation is no longer at-risk.

At their monthly meeting, the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) agreed Tulsa Public Schools will no longer need to report back to the OSDE every month and their accreditation is no longer in question.
