In the most contested races for control of the U.S. House, many Republican candidates are speaking up about women’s rights to abortion access and reproductive care in new and surprising ways.

Notably, abortion will appear on ballots in 10 states this year. It’s an issue proven to draw voters, evidenced in the so-called “ blue wave” that turned out for the 2022 midterm elections after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade earlier that year.

Asked why supporters would not participate, an Arizona for Abortion Access spokesperson cited other campaign work and support for the amendment.

Measures that would protect abortion access are on track to appear on the ballot in 10 states in November, but abortion opponents are engaged in last-ditch legal maneuvering to try to prevent voters from weighing in on the proposals.

Ten states will have reproductive rights-related questions on the ballot this November, leaving it up to voters to directly decide how the procedure will be regulated.
