Airport Fire victims filed claims against Orange County after investigators determined that a public works crew unintentionally started the blaze.The destructive disaster destroyed 160 buildings, damaged 34 others and injured 22 people,

Airport Fire initially started 1:21 p.m. Sep. 9 in Orange, Riverside County. After being active for 15 days, it has burned 23,526 acres. A crew of 584 firefighters has been working on site and, by Tuesday morning, they managed to contain 88% of the fire. The wildfire originated from equipment usage.

The County of Orange has received the first claim over losses from the Airport fire that has destroyed a reported 160 structures and damaged another 34.

Progress of the Airport Fire continues to slow Saturday morning as crews reach 9% containment of the 23,494-acre blaze.

Airport Fire initially started 1:21 p.m. Sep. 9 in Orange, Riverside County. After being active for two weeks, it has burned 23,519 acres. A crew of 1,118 firefighters has been working on site and, by Monday morning, they managed to contain 81% of the fire. The wildfire originated from equipment usage.

Kwong, Orange County's health officer, on Friday reissued an emergency declarationn for the Airport fire that began Sept. 9 and has so far consumed more than 23,000 acres.

The Orange County Fire Authority said a cold front is expected to bring light showers and cooler temperatures.

Orange County launched a website and plans to open an assistance center to provide residents with information about recovering from the Airport Fire.
