Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Friday directed the Maharashtra police to find a secluded spot to bury the mortal remains of Akshay Shinde, the main accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case, who was shot dead in an encounter with the escort party in a police van.

Akshay Shinde's father moved an application before the Bombay high court against chief officer of Ambernath municipal council seeking land for his son's burial.

The Bombay High Court has raised concerns over the police encounter of Akshay Shinde, accused of sexual assault in Badlapur. The court questioned the plausibility of Shinde seizing a police pistol and firing it.

Bombay HC said shoot-out of Akshay Shinde could have been avoided and urged for probe into his death to be carried out in a fair manner.

The Bombay High Court expressed skepticism about the police's account of Akshay Shinde's death in a supposed encounter, demanding an impartial investigation and questioning the police's self-defense claims,

The Bombay high court scrutinised several aspects of the Baldapur encounter case, urging a fair and impartial investigation. It questioned why Akshay Shinde was shot in the head rather than being subdued and directed that all evidence be handed over to Maharashtra CID.

Inspector Sanjay Shinde stated that he acted in self-defense, as the behavior of Akshay Shinde, the accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case, indicated that he intended to harm everyone.

A division bench, comprising Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Prithviraj Chavan, remarked that if they find the ongoing investigation inadequate.

Akshay Shinde, who was employed as a sweeper at the school where he committed the crime, died in retaliatory firing on Monday after he snatched a police officer's weapon and opened fire at the cops, according to the police.
