Coralie Fargeat, the writer and director of The Substance, has withdrawn the satirical body-horror film from the Camerimage film festival in response to fest head Marek Żydowicz's controversial remarks about female cinematographers.

French filmmaker Coralie Fargeat has pulled her latest feature The Substance from Poland's Camerimage Film Festival following the fallout of a controversial op-ed written by the festival's founder and head Marek Żydowicz.

The film's cinematographer, Benjamin Kracun, will also no longer attend the event kicking off Saturday in Poland.
