Vice President Sara Duterte personally attended the Senate plenary deliberations on her office’s proposed 2025 budget, hoping to persuade senators to restore the nearly P1.3-billion cut from her allocation following allegations of fund misuse made against her at a House inquiry.

The Senate on Wednesday approved the proposed 2025 budget of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) in less than 10 minutes.

Vice President Sara Duterte says around 200 OVP personnel may lose their jobs. Critics argue that the satellite offices are unnecessary and only duplicate the work of existing government agencies.

Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday defended the officials from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) who repeatedly failed to attend the House panel inquiry into her office’s budget use, saying they were in various satellite offices to attend the activities for the upcoming OVP anniversary.

Vice President Sara Duterte thanked the Senate for approving the proposed P733.2-million budget for her office, even though it adopted the House of Representatives’ P1.3-billion cut. Duterte attended the plenary hearing yesterday for the Senate’s plenary approval of her budget that was slashed by the House from the original proposal of P2.
