The Israeli military was preparing to expand strikes across Lebanon early on Monday, as the long-simmering conflict with Hezbollah threatened to explode into larger war.

Israel urged residents of southern Lebanon to evacuate from homes and other buildings where it claimed Hezbollah has stored weapons, saying the military would conduct “extensive strikes” against the militant group.

The strikes come as the Israeli army issued evacuation orders, the first of its kind in nearly a year of a steadily escalating conflict.
